Adamawa: There Is Nothing to Celebrate On May 29, APC Tells Fintiri, PDP

Ahead of the one year anniversary of the present administration of the PDP in Adamawa state, the All progressives Congress (APC) Thursday counselled Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to avoid making false performance claims and empty promises to celebrate May 29 Inauguration Day.

The party said Governor Fintiri should rather apologise for the tragic failures of his administration, which wrecked the once robust and cohesive state, imposed hardship and created acute despondency across the state in the last one year.

The APC stressed that Fintiri should also address the manifest manipulations, bloodletting, kidnapping, coercions, abuse of power and human right violations that characterised the 2019 local council elections, as such is the only way to achieve healing in the state polity.

According to the APC in a statement issued by the statel Publicity Secretary, Abdullahi Muhammad, “Our party further advises Governor Fintiri against living in denial of the ugly fact that his administration and his dysfunctional People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had deserted, betrayed and abandoned underprivileged Adamawa residents, particularly our youths, after the PDP deceived them with false promises to grab power in 2019.”

The party further urged the governor not to allow his handlers push him into sugar-coating the colossal failures of the last one year, which had been characterised by worsened insecurity and economic hardship, while the governor, who had promised to lead from the front, recedes deeper into the luxury and safety of the government house to detriment of the innocent citizen they promised to protect.

Again, APC said: “Our party calls on Fintiri not to give room for his advisers to further ridicule his office by making him read another windy speech that would be laced with vacuous promises, doctored performance claims and myriads of incorrect and unsupported statistics that would end up being at total variance with the harsh realities on ground.

“The Governor should know that he cannot use the COVID-19 pandemic as excuse for failure as his administration had since lost grip of the security and economic situation in our state even before the outbreak of the scourge.”

It said Adamawa residents hoped that the governor would always recall that the APC handed over a robust economy and a beautiful city that can be compare to Abuja and Lagos which was rated as one of the fastest growing city in Nigeria, only for him to bring Adamawa to its knees as the state with second poverty capital within a space of one year.

APC further stated that he should use the occasion to reflect that his administration had ruined the infrastructure projects left behind by the Bindow’s administration and the harsh policies leading to the sacking of 10,000 youths from the state civil service.

According to APC, the governor should contemplate on the alarm raised by the NBS, that poverty and unemployment rate under this administration will hit a devastating 33.5 per cent this year.

Fintiri, the main opposition said, should also reflect that under his watch, the 10,000 workers that were employed by Bindow were sacked by Fintiri, residents of the state cannot sleep with two eyes close, and that his administration despite getting huge allocations from FAAC has nothing to show.
