Bury your heads in shame, Group tells Fintiri over Bachure Road Project

The Chairman, Adamawa first initiative, Ibrahim Luka, Monday, said the state of non-motor able road at Bachure is a pointer to how the Governor Fintiri-led administration and the People’s democratic party, PDP, has destroyed Adamawa state’s respect and honour when it comes to execution of infrastructure projects in the state.

The Group in a statement issued by its spokesman, Festus Michika said the embarrassing situation at Bachure has again highlighted the poor rating of Adamawa state under Fintiri administration by other governors in the northeast, “exposed its lack of capacity to exude our state pride as well as its failure to meaningfully engage other governors on how capital projects is implemented under their watch despite loans taken by their predecessor.”

The statement further reads: “Adamawa first initiative describes as disheartening that since Fintiri abandoned the only capital project lunched by the governor but could not complete it till date after the much fanfare that escorted the projects during the flag off ceremony in Bachure.

Governor Fintiri has not demonstrated the littlest effort to preserve the state integrity when it comes to execution of infrastructure the Bindow administration is known for.

“Our Group holds that the sorry state of Bachure road is a huge contempt, which the Fintiri administration could have finish through engagement, but failed as a result of sheer incompetence and incapacity to articulate our state pride before other Governors of the North-eastern state.

“This situation has further explained why attacks on Adamawa state had escalated under the Fintiri administration, with Adamawa indigenes being mocked in various parts of the country due to non-execution of projects by Fintiri, other Governors in the region take advantage of the incompetence and weaknesses of the current government in Adamawa.

“The Group particularly recalls how the Fintiri administration exhibited unpardonable weakness and failed to protect innocent Adamawa citizens who were being killed in violent communal attacks in southern senatorial district of the state.

“The Group, therefore, calls on Governor Fintiri to wake up both to his responsibilities and save our state from further embarrassing situations across the northeast.”

The Bachure road contract that was flag off six month into Fintiri administration in 2019 is currently abandoned; a development that has continued to elicit diverse reactions across the state.
