2023: A dead party cannot send me packing from Government house, Fintiri lambast APC

On Friday, Governor Fintiri of Adamawa state described the All Progressive Congress (APC) as “a dead party, not capable of capturing Adamawa in 2023.”

The Special Aide to the Governor, Solomon Kumangar, made the remark in an interview in Yola.

Kumangar was reacting to an assertion by the Publicity Secretary of APC in the state, Mr Mohammad Abduallahi, that the opposition party would win Adamawa and take over the government in 2023.

Mohammed had said on Friday that 2023 would be the beginning of the end of PDP administration in the state as the party was sure of dislodging the ruling party.

He had claimed that Adamawa electorates were tired of the “non-performance of PDP government “and were eagerly waiting to vote APC.

But Kumangar described the assertions as laughable, saying APC had been completely decimated and could not impact the governorship election, let alone winning.

He dismissed the assertion as an “empty boast”, saying Adamawa electorates knew the difference between light and retrogression and would continue to vote the PDP.

“The assertion made by the APC that it would win the state in 2023 is a colossal joke. It is laughable.

“How do they want to achieve that? The party has been deserted and left for dead by Adamawa electorates.

“A party where virtually all their bigwigs, such as Kobis Aris and others, had deserted because they have seen the light and are now in the fold of PDP.

“Who is left in the APC in the state? I think they are living in a fool’s paradise by thinking they would make an impact let alone win in 2023. APC in Adamawa is dead and buried,” he said.

Kumangar said he was surprised that APC was still boasting of winning when most House of Assembly members of their party are decamping to the PDP next week.

He said the recent indication by ten APC members of the house to decamp to PDP soon was further confirmation that the opposition party had no place in the state.

Kumangar said Adamawa electorates trusted the PDP government in the state to deliver good leadership, saying APC lacked the drive for progress.

“Gov. Fintiri has been rendering purposeful leadership in the state in line with his electoral promise.

“Adamawa electorates appreciate the progress the government is making, the people trust the PDP to do more. APC has no place in the state,” he said.
