Adamawa RIFAN Boss, Maduwa denies involvement in Michika legislative council crisis.

The Chairman Adamawa state rice farmers association of Nigeria, Stephen Maduwa, has said he has no hand in the crisis rocking the Michika local government legislative council nor in a battle royale with a former member House of Representative Adamu Kamale, over the control of the legislative council assembly.

The clarification was made yesterday at Yola, the Adamawa state capital, in a statement from his media office.

Viral reports on social media had it that Maduwa uses his influence on the Governor to instigate crisis in the Michika council legislative assembly and engage Adamu kamale in a supremacy battle on who controls the legislative council assembly.

Maduwa media office described the allegation as false and mischievous, and very unfortunate, wondering why those behind the falsehood chose to smear the name and office of the RIFAN Boss.

According to the statement, Maduwa only invites the councillor to a conciliatory meeting to sort out their differences. He could not watch as a stakeholder from Michika to allow the council thrown into chaos, as Maduwa was not only the stakeholder present in the meeting.

The statement regretted the situation where youths use social media to run their leaders down, asking the persons peddling the rumour to apologise or face the wrath of the law.

The statement read in part, “We find as unacceptable and unfortunate the story that Hon. Stephen Maduwa uses the Governor’s influence to cause a succession crisis in Michika council legislative assembly and engage kamale over who controls the legislative council.

What do they hope to achieve with the baseless allegation, if not for political purposes?

“There is no such thing. It is false, mischievous and malicious. For those who are spreading the rumour, the RIFAN boss has no hand in the crisis rocking the council assembly as he is not the chairman of the council nor a councillor in Michika.

He does not have any godfather’s interest in who controls the assembly council, nor does he use the Governor’s name in conveying the reconciliatory meeting as they are alleging.

“What we understand is that the media attack on the RIFAN boss is due to his soaring political popularity as he has never engaged kamale in any ego fight over the control of the council assembly,” the statement stated.

The Finder gathered that Maduwa conveyed the meeting to allow peace reign within the councillors. He cannot stay aloof about why his home local government of Michika is embroiled in crisis over who controls the legislative council assembly.

Despite the social media report, there is no evidence to show that Maduwa uses the Governor’s name to summon the councillors to the meeting.

This medium also faults the media reports that Maduwa uses thugs to beat up councillors due to the disagreement from the meeting.

Fashe Yanna, a councillor representing the kamale ward, told our correspondent that it was an insult from one of his colleagues after rounding up the meeting that led to the free for all incident that happened, not any thugs brought by Maduwa as widely reported in the media.

“It right to put the record straight; how can someone who is the council chairman want to decide who controls the council assembly?

Or are they saying Maduwa is also a councillor, of what interest is fighting for who is the council’s leader be to Maduwa or Kamale?

For the avoidance of doubt, the duo of Maduwa and kamale has not involved the disagreement in the council assembly; I challenge anyone with evidence that Maduwa uses the name of the Governor to call for that particular meeting to come forward,” Fashe said.
