Alleged unlawful suspension of Adamawa united chairman by Commissioner for youths and sport, Alloyius Babadoke sparks protests.

There are protests in Adamawa State over the Commissioner of youth and sport, Babadoke Alloyius, to illegally suspend the chairman of Adamawa United football club, just as the chairman of the football club, Emmanuel Zira, have petitioned the Governor, alleging intimidation and harassment.

 

Mr Emmanuel Zira has asked the Commissioner to withdraw the decision, saying that the tenure of the members, which began in 2019, would lapse in 2023.

  

Besides, the controversy over the chairman’s suspension started when the Commissioner, in a letter dated August 30, 2021, informed the chairman of the club, Emmanuel Zira, that the Governor had approved his suspension from office, a claim The Finder discovered to be false.

 

According to Alloyius, in line with the government’s policies and its willingness to develop every sector, The Commissioner for youths and sport has recommended the immediate relief of appointments of Adamawa united management and was approved by the Governor.

 

He pointed out: “the ministry for youths and sport takes over the management of the club.”

 

However, the Commissioner’s action has raised dust in the government circle and among the management’s lawyers.

 

Governor Fintiri, on the assumption of office, had earlier issued a warning against undue administrative interference, harassment and intimidation. 

 

According to a government house source, the Governor has directed the Ministry of Youths and sport to stop interfering in the administrative procedures within the mandate of the club’s management.

 

  “Adamawa united football club is not managed by the ministry of youths and sport, it is directly under the governor been over see by the chief of staff, so the commissioner lack powers to recommend their suspension ,” the source added.
