Michika/Madagali 2023: Group endorses Thomas Madi
Ahead of the 2023 General Elections, a pro-democracy group under the aegis of Michika/Madagali Political Movement Alliance (PMA) has endorsed the Adamawa state Pension Chairman, ESV Thomas T Madi, for House of representative.
The National Secretary of MMPMA, Mr Sunday Zira, in a communiqué issued after the group’s monthly convention on Wednesday in Abuja, said that the leadership of the group, made up of 55 wards coordinators, endorsed Madi to replace Dauda Nyampa in 2023.
According to Zira, Madi is a potential candidate, de-tribalized politician and an accomplished civil and Public servant.
“We want to seize this opportunity to announce to ESV. Thomas Madi that we are solidly, physically, mentally, emotionally and financially behind him, to lead the people of Michika/ Madagali come 2023.
“We therefore wholeheartedly endorse him for House of representative in the 2023 General Election.
“It is without a doubt that we believe that Dauda Nyampa has shown us his best, and therefore he should retire so that other eminent son of Michika should take over the baton of leadership.
“Record has it that in 2019 we stood and fought for Nyampa; we, therefore, urge him to stand and support Thomas Madi in 2023 as his best is not good enough.
“If Michika/ Madagali truly wants to heal from the scars of the apprentice leadership style of the current occupants of the seat, Madi must be supported to lead Michika/Madagali in 2023.
“The 2023 poll is just over 20 months away, and there are already permutations on who will succeed Nyampa.
“Majority believe that it is the turn of Madi who has severally worked for PDP in the Northern Zone, We voted for PDP due to Fintiri and Atiku not individual, Nyampa benefitted from this gesture but has turned his back on us, we cannot remember the last time any Michika/Madagali sons or daughter has set their eyes on him in the two local government ” he said.
Zira pointed out that aside from the basis of equity, justice and fairness in the quest for Madi to represent the People in the green chamber, there was also the need for progressive and corrective leadership.
Zira further urged the PDP to cede its ticket to Thomas Madi in the spirit of equity, fairness and justice as fielding Nyampa seeing his abysmal performance will spell dooms for the party.
“Michika/Madagali needs a de-detribalized leader with national and international contacts, who would consolidate on the infrastructure gains of the current administration of Governor Fintiri, but most importantly, better manage the two local government’s diversity.
“Using those as mentioned earlier as a yardstick, ESV. Thomas T Madi is the most accomplished among other retired civil servants who ventured into politics. He has successfully transitioned to become a successful political leader, having also managed the pension administration excellently under Fintiri’s watch.
“He made iconic blueprints as Permanent Secretary of Adamawa for years,” Zira said.
He added that Madi was qualified in all ramifications, having served without blemish as a permanent secretary and the current chairman, Adamawa state Pension Pension board.
