Gombi Elders Seek Fintiri’s Intervention Over Adamawa Poly Rector’s Tenure Renewal.

Elders of Gombi Local government of Adamawa state have appealed to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to renew the tenure of the current Rector of Adamawa State Polytechnic,Prof Ibrahim Umar who hails from Gombi Local Government of the State.

They noted with dismay the recent advert of the position of the Rector as his FIRST TENURE drew to a close ending of next month.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof Ibrahim Umar, was appointed into his FIRST TERM of four years as the Rector; according to the College’s edict, and Prof. Ibrahim Umar is entitled to a second term of another four years in office.

They explained that Prof. Ibrahim Umar is the only indigene of the Gombi Local Government holding a position under the current administration in Adamawa.

The Elders who spoke under the aegis of Gombi in Yola yesterday pleaded with the Governor that it was only fair that their son Prof. Umar Ibrahim the sole indigene of Gombi Local Government Council apart from the Commissioner holding an appointment under Governor Fintiri, should be allowed to go for a second term having performed excellently as the Rector of the State Polytechnic, Yola.

They insisted that since the creation of the State many years ago, they have been ‘robbed’ of every opportunity of occupying heads of any educational Institution of the State not until Fintiri came on board and decided that the right thing was done.

Chairman of Gombi Elders forum, Mohammed Aminu, told this medium that “the intervention of the Governor Fintiri at this point is necessary as those that feel uncomfortable with our son being the head of the Institution want the Rector out as they vowed he never serve his second term under Fintiri as we understand that he has all criteria for his tenure to be renewed. So, there is no reason why the position be advertised knowing fully well that our son is eligble for tenure renewal.”
