The only APC candidate who will defeat Fintiri must come from the moon.

By Editor.

Opposition parties in Adamawa State save for the All-Progressives Congress (APC) may have gone comatose a year to the 2023 general elections.

Although the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the timetable for the general polls, the All-Progressive Congress (APC) and other parties are virtually non-existent. Their offices have remained docile and desolate.

Some of the parties include the All-Progressive Congress (APC), Social democratic party (SDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), among others.

The State is presently dominated by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), having the majority advantage while the All-Progressives Congress (APC) is trailing. Before the 2015 and 2019 general elections, PDP solely controlled the State.

No less than 20 of the opposition parties participated in the 2019 elections in the State.

Few of them won an elective position at the legislative that is the APC Progressive Congress.

Similarly, in the local government councils’ election conducted in 2019 by the Umaru Fintiri administration, the All-Progressive Congress and other parties could not secure a councillorship seat.

To date, APC and the ADC is the only opposition party of the lot that participated in the 2019 elections but since have gone into hibernation.

There are, however, signs that the parties would resurface soon as activities rev up ahead of the 2023 general elections, a practice that has become routine for them.

Any candidate presented by the Opposition All Progressive Congress in Adamawa will be victimized and conquered by the man in the Dourgirei government House, Umaru Fintiri, in 2023.

The fact remains that crisis within the APC in Adamawa will continue to bedevil till Fintiri finish his tenure in 2027; there is no gainsaying that the APC line up acclaimed political juggernaut that will wrestle powers from Fintiri, not Bindow, that was defeated in 2019 despite being an incumbent nor Nuhu Ribadu that was serially defeated in 2015 despite having massive financial war chest and had the backing of the government at the centre, nor Namdas that was deputy to Gundiri in same 2015 but could not deliver his polling units, a single local government, nor Modi Halilu that is a greenhorn.

Namdas, one of the aspirants who daydreamed about winning in 2023, claimed his emergence was spurred by the political motivation he got from his people; if an election is conducted today, Namdas cannot beat his polling unit in Adamawa.

I am sure all the listed aspirants who have been prepared to contest against Fintiri will fail woefully as none could stand the might of the governor when it comes to grassroots politicking in Adamawa.

Fast forward to the upcoming local government election scheduled for April in Adamawa; it will be a litmus test for the APC to test their wane popularity. Still, after the election, we will be hearing gnashing teeth and raising the force alarm of rigging by the APC.

We wait to see the magic that will get APC to power in Adamawa as a party that lost as an incumbent in 2019, having a lofty dream of winning as an opposition.

Finally, all the listed prospective candidates of the APC in Adamawa are not new to Fintiri’s political prowess unless a new candidate will be invited from the moon to come and defeat Fintiri in 2023 as Namdas, the highest rabble-rouser, will go last in APC primary, this is a prophecy, not a wish.
