The People of Michika do not hate their own but hate a leader that makes several promises and fails to fulfil them.

There is no doubt that Mr Boni Haruna is from Michika, and there is no doubt also that he was a former Governor of Adamawa State. He served for eight years and was also a minister during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

There is no gainsaying that Alh. Atiku Abubakar lost the 1999 governorship elections in Michika to Mr Bala Takaya despite picking his Deputy from the local council, forgetting that Bala also is from the same zone as Atiku’s Deputy, Mr Boni Haruna.

But when Boni Haruna came campaigning for his second time as governor, the people of Michika voted for him massively, and he won with thousand of votes.

Boni’s several failed promises and campaign pledges to his people that he would transform Michika local government into a miniature London, to the chagrin of the people who voted for him massively, has pitched him against the common Higgi man and woman.

it is unfortunate and insensitive for anyone to denigrate the good people of Michika, suggesting that they have less value for their own, forgetting that Boni has several bites the finger that fed him and the people that made him politically

First, this writer should have found out why Mr Boni Haruna’s decimal acceptance by the people of Michika LGA.

It is to the understanding of all that Boni has not done anything to the people of Michika local government. He did not construct even a culvert talk more of a kilometre of road, school or health centre in Michika during his long stayed in governance.

Messrs Murtala Nyako and Fintiri have constructed several urban and rural roads in Michika local government to the surprise of Boni himself.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has constructed six urban roads and several rural roads. He has built and rehabilitated schools and hospitals and attracted several other developmental projects to Michika.

This writer fails to exonerate His Excellency, Sale Michika, and General Buba Marwa from the exhaustive analysis of “Michika hates their own” it is his on record the exemplary, selfless and purposeful leadership of the duo exception of Boni to the people of Michika is unquantifiable.

During Sale Michika’s short sting in office as a Governor, he initiated developing the LGA by paying people to commence the construction of roads, schools, and health centres that have kicked started before the Military cut short his ambition.

But up to date, posthumously, the people of Michika held him in the highest esteem.

Similarly, the mention of Buba Marwa’s name and Boni Haruna is not compatible because Buba was the one who connected Michika to the National grid when he was the Governor of Borno State.

He built the present civic centre, and he has mobilized resources and executed several projects through his WAPE Foundation.

He has awarded scholarships to many Michika students both within and abroad and secured many employments for the teeming youths in the LGA.

Boni’s present predicament is from the nemesis of his past failure to render a helping hand to his people despite spending eight years in office as a Governor.

The People of Michika do not hate their own but hate a leader that makes several promises and fails to fulfil them.

Enough of sentiment as the 2023 election approaches, I urged Boni Haruna and his sympathizers to use the next town hall meeting to clear their names and tell the people what the people of Michika have benefited from him as governor and as Minister.

I can recall that this is not the first time Mr Boni has been contesting the election after leaving the Dougirei Government House. In 2011, he competed for Senate, but the people spoke with their loud voice by voting Senator Bindow to represent them in the Senate because of his bad antecedents.

For the past fifteen years, Boni Haruna has not visited his village despite the activities of the insurgency that have gulped the place. Morally, can this one be a leader that people are ingrate to?

Also unfortunate is Mr Boni Haruna’s claims that the people he has helped politically are now against him. This is unfortunate because all the people he is complaining about have worked vigorously to ensure the realization of his second-time ambition—Boni Haruna is supposed to be the one thanking them, not calling them ingrates.

Michika people are not ingrate but can forget in a hurry that once upon a time their son was Governor and Minister, and yet his impact has not been felt by the people, and the 2023 election will prove me right as Boni cannot win his kubrushosho ward.
