Breaking: Fintiri unveils Kaletapwa as running mate.

Umaru Fintiri, the Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa state, has officially unveiled Kaletapwa George as his running mate in the 2023 governorship election.

The event took place Wednesday at the government house banquet hall in Yola.

Kaletapwa is the current Vice Chancellor, Adamawa State University, Mubi and a former chairman, Adamawa state Universal basic education board, Yola.

Fintiri had named Kaletapwa as his running mate on July 8.

Kaleptapwa was announced as the party’s deputy governorship candidate after Crowther Seth, the current deputy governor of Adamawa state, stepped down.

Fintiri’s choice of running mate elicited accolades, as women in Adamawa believe they have a sense of belonging now.

Defending his decision, Fintiri said what mattered most was “competence in governance”.

“To forge ahead as a state toward development and prosperity, we must adjust to the reality of women’s inclusiveness in politics. 

We must recalibrate our political calculations to where competence and fairness matter more than reductive demographics,” he had said.
