Fact-check: Documents show Ishaku Abbo lied, Binani sponsored FMC, Mubi establishment Bill.

The claim by the Senator representing Adamawa North in the Nigerian Senate, Ishaku Abbo, that he sponsored or co-sponsored the bill establishing the Federal Medical Center Mubi bill is false, as an investigation by THE FINDER has shown.

Also untrue, as our findings show, is Mr. Abbo’s claim that he co-sponsored the bill when it was read in the Senate.

In his controversial Facebook post, Mr. Abbo had, among other allegations, accused Mr. Jafar Jafar, a member representing Mubi North, Mubi South, and Maiha federal constituencies in the Nigeria House of Representatives, of claiming undue advantage by sponsoring the FMC Mubi Bill.

But in a curious move, Mrs. Dahiru, the senator representing Adamawa Central, was the brainchild of the bills. As the documents show, she single-handedly sponsored the bill that would see the former Modibbo Adamawa University converted to a conventional university from its technological formation since its establishment.

But THE FINDER can say with certainty that Mr. Abbo was not telling the whole truth about this particular bill.

As the duo claims, neither Messrs Abbo nor Jaffar sponsored the bill; Jafar only sponsored it at the House representative level.

In a national assembly document sighted by this newspaper, Mr. Abbo, contrary to what he told the people, did not indicate anywhere that Mr. Abbo was a co sponsor of FMC mubi bill, rather it was Jafar that contributed on the bill on the floor of the House of represenative during a debate on the bill”.

Ishaku Abbo has notoriety for laying claims to projects that are neither within his purview nor those that he contributed to in any way.

CONCLUSION: Messrs. Abbo did not sponsor FMC Mubi bills, as Abbo’s co sponsoring claim can be found on all the documents sighted by this medium, and Jafar only sponsored it at the House representative level.

Documents reviewed by this newspaper as well as interviews with those who should know also indicate that Aishatu Dahiru sponsored the bill at the Senate and that the bill emanated from her.
