Office of Accountant General of the Federation should be removed from the claws of the FG, says Fintiri.

The Governor of Adamawa State, Umaru Fintiri, has admonished the Federal Government to purge itself of contempt by separating the office of the accountant general of the Federation from the control of the Federal Government.

Fintiri, speaking at a campaign rally in Jada, an Adamawa state local government, was irritated by President Buhari’s claim that governors divert funds intended for local governments.

He said, “The way out of this quagmire we found ourselves in is for the constitution to be amended so that the office of the accountant general of the federation will be independent of the federal government; only that way local governments can enjoy their money.”

“If the constitution isn’t changed by tomorrow, the FG will keep taking money that belongs to state and local governments,” Fintiri was reported to have told voters in Hausa.

“They said they wanted the truth; they should start with the truth,” the governor said.
