Adamawa govt approves APC’s request to use ‘Ribadu Square’ for campaign

The Adamawa government has approved the All Progressive Congress’ (APC) request to use Mahmud Ribadu Square for its presidential, governorship, and other campaign rallies.

This is written in a letter that Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State’s chief of staff, Prof. Maxwell Gidado, signed.

“You will recall that an earlier approval had been given to the APC Presidential Campaign Council to hold its presidential flag-off campaign from January 15–18, 2023.
However, following the change of date of your presidential campaign in Yola from the 15th to the 9th of January 2023, I am directed to grant you approval for the use of the Mahmud Ribadu Square for your national campaign on the 7th to the 9th of January 2023, accordingly.

Further to our letter dated January 6, 2022, His Excellency, Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Umaru, has approved the use of the facility by the APC for its presidential campaign rally scheduled to hold on January 7–9, 2022.

The APC in Adamawa had alleged that the state government denied it permission to use the stadium known as ‘Ribadu Square’ for their campaign. However, in a quick response, Fintiri’s chief press secretary, Humwashi Hunosoiku, questioned APC’s claim in a Friday press statement.

According to a member of the APC state working committee, “at no time did the governor deny our party the use of Ribadu Square; we were informed contractors were to resume on the 9th of January to prepare the square for the coming of the president.” “I am surprised our party is making a fuss out of nothing.”

However, I am aware the presidential campaign council of our party has written a fresh letter to the governor, and it has been approved.
