Governorship elections: INEC’s integrity is called into question after the contract for printing result sheets is awarded to Binani Printing Company.

THE FINDER got a copy of the contract signed by the secretary-to the Independent national electoral commision (INEC), Rose Oriaran-Anthony, on Wednesday. The contract says that Aishatu Binani, the candidate for governor of Adamawa State for the All Progressives Congress (APC), was given N434,372,649 to print election results sheets for the general elections in 2023.

It has been reported that Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani, owner of Binani Printing Press, received sensitive printing work from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This was done despite repeated assurances by INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, that the integrity of the sensitive materials for the election would be ensured.

Binani claimed she would be elected governor of Adamawa State in 2023 no matter what the opposition did. Binani was overheard on a video claiming that she would steal the governorship.

The governorship result sheets for the states of Jigawa, Kaduna, Kebbi, Kaduna, Kano, Zamfara, and Sokoto were detailed in INEC’s contract with Binani.

The FINDER tried calling Binani several times but got no response.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Binani campaign organisation, Salihu Baba Ahmed, when contacted, said, “If any contract was awarded, it is to her company, which consists of many Nigerians. And in any case, is she not eligible to be awarded contracts in this country?”
