COAS inaugurates renovated 71st Brigade Training Wing in Kaduna.
Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, opened the newly renovated 71 Supply and Transport (ST) Training Wing on Friday in Ribadu Cantonment, Kaduna.
This information was released on Thursday in Abuja by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, who is in charge of Army Public Relations.
According to Nwachukwu, the school’s training wing was recently renovated and expanded to include a new lecture hall, drivers’ training class, offices, catering demonstration hall, refectory, and student restrooms.
The Chief of Army Staff, who spoke at the occasion, praised the initiative and dedication of the project’s executor, Colonel Wasiu Bakare, who has been reassigned to the position of Commander at 70 ST Command.
Lagbaja voiced confidence that the training centre would provide trainees with high-quality training and asked the commander, staff, and trainees to keep the facility well-maintained.
It is in line with the COAS’s vision to “transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force towards achieving its constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment,” he said of the refurbished building.
He lauded Bakare’s leadership, dedication, and resourcefulness as the project was being carried out.
Therefore, Lagbaja ordered all GOCs to ensure that the ST Brigade Training Wings in their respective divisions have access to adequate transportation resources.
General Officer Commanding, First Division, Major General Valentine Okoro, thanked the Chief of Army Staff for improving military training in accordance with his leadership tenets.
Okoro also noted that the 71 ST Brigade was evolving alongside the rest of the Nigerian Army’s training.
To support continuing operations in the Division’s areas of responsibility, he promised the COAS that the facility would be put to good use by training troops who would utilise their newly gained skills to provide high-quality critical services.
The project manager, Bakare, expressed gratitude to the COAS for creating a positive and dynamic environment for the 71 ST Brigade’s training.
