2023 Hajj: Gov. Yusuf rewards casual worker for returning missing $16,000
Kano State’s governor, Abba Yusuf, has granted a permanent, pensionable position to Dayyabu Haladu, a temporary employee who returned lost funds totaling $16,000 from the most recent Hajj operation in Saudi Arabia.
His press secretary, Malam Bature Dawakin Tofa, made this announcement in Kano on Tuesday.Governor Yusuf sent an invitation to the next Hajj as well as a gift of N1 million.
The governor made the announcement while reviewing the Hajj 2023 board report.He thanked the part-time worker for being happy with himself. He praised Dayyabu’s exemplary behaviour and said it was something everyone should strive to emulate. This gentleman, a part-
time worker whose salary isn’t much to brag about, returned the missing funds. He stated it proved the man’s reverence for Allah and that he deserved to be honoured.
Yusuf urged the people of Kano to uphold the state’s sterling reputation by exemplifying the admirable qualities of truthfulness, self-discipline, and satisfaction.
Despite the current economic difficulties, Dayyabu responded by saying that he had repaid the stolen money to the state Pilgrims Welfare Board out of respect for Allah.
He thanked the governor for his kindness and said he had never felt such happiness.Meanwhile, the governor has pledged to finally recognise the heroic actions of the wellknown tricyclist Auwalu Salisu, who found and returned N16 million in lost funds belonging to an international traveller.
The governor has stated that there have been encouraging signs of an increased degree of trustworthiness among Kano residents, which has reflected well on the state as a whole.
