Senate Approves $7.8bn, €100m In FG’s Borrowing Plan
The Senate has authorised 7.8 billion dollars and 100 million euros in President Bola Tinubu’s planned borrowing plan for 2022–2024.
The President had written to the Senate requesting that the 2022–2024 External Borrowing Plan be considered and approved as soon as possible to assure project completion.
According to Section 154(1) of the constitution, Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced on Wednesday that Tinubu had asked for confirmation of the nomination of the ten resident electoral commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The Senate then began the screening process.
The Senate also approved the appointment of seven of President Tinubu’s candidates as residents Electoral Commissioners.
Mr. Etekamba Umoren of Akwaibom, Mr. Isha Ehimeakne of Edo, Barr. Oluwatoyin Babalola of Ekiti, Mr. Abubakar Ahmed of Gombe, Shehu Wahab of Kwara, Aminu Idris of Nasarawa, and Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq of Niger are the nominees who have been approved.
The other three nominees were not present for the screening.
