Uzodimma thanks supporters after his election victory.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has congratulated supporters following his re-election.
After the Supreme Court overturned Emeka Ihedioha’s victory, Uzodimma was appointed governor of Imo in 2020.
However, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate as the winner of the Imo governorship election on Sunday, after he won all 27 local government areas in the south-east state. He claimed the current victory proves he won the Imo governorship election in 2019 but was robbed until the Supreme Court intervened.
“This triumph is very precious to me because it proves that the same God who did it before will do it again,” he declared on Sunday during a Thanksgiving ceremony in Owerri, the state capital.
“I am humbled and honoured by your tremendous support in yesterday’s election, my good people of Imo State,” he continued.
“Your confidence in me to manage our beloved state is both motivating and greatly appreciated.” We earned a tremendous win as a team, and I am dedicated to keeping the promises we made during our campaign.”
