Ondo Speaker Receives Akeredolu’s Letter, Says Aiyedatiwa Now Acting Governor
Olamide Oladiji, speaker of the Ondo State house of assembly, announced on Wednesday that he had received a letter from Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo state, transferring the authority to become acting governor to Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Still, he insisted on following the proper constitutional channels before approving the matter and having the Clerk of the House notify the State Government of his decision.
According to Oladiji, the House of Representatives had already approved the governor’s letter and he had told them about the meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
After the Speaker completes the handover of authority to the deputy governor, he plans to issue a press statement, so there will be no sitting on the subject, as per the Speaker.
The Speaker announced that Aiyedatiwa would henceforth serve as the governor in a de jure capacity until a formal statement to the contrary is received.

A letter of medical leave has been received by ODHA from Governor Akedolu.
The Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON, has sent the medical leave letter to the State House of Assembly in accordance with the doctor’s recommendation about the necessity of medical follow-up following recovery.
The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Olamide Oladiji, who received the letter on behalf of other legislators, stated that the governor’s decision is in accordance with Section 190 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Constitution (as amended).
The governor’s duties will be taken over by his deputy, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in an acting capacity until a formal statement is made to the contrary, as stated in the letter.
You can anticipate that the leave will start on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
Oladiji was hopeful that the governor will soon be able to return to his duties after expressing gratitude to God for his quick recovery.
