Dennis Idahosa emerges as the Edo APC governor candidate.
Dennis Idahosa, a member of the House of Representatives, has emerged as the All-Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the Edo State Governorship election.
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who chairs the Edo State Governorship Primary Election Committee, proclaimed Idahosa the APC flagbearer on Saturday in Benin City following the party’s primaries.
According to him, Idahosa received more than 40,000 votes to defeat other candidates and will now represent the party in the September 2024 governorship election.
Prior to the announcement, there was some drama when suspected thugs stopped the collation process, prompting the election commission to move venues.
The alleged attackers had attacked the site and thrown away journalists’ cameras, sending officials and pressmen fleeing for their lives.
However, Governor Uzodimma indicated that there was a mix-up over the collation place. He stated that the candidate was announced at the correct location.
Some APC members in Edo State’s Oredo Local Government Area informed Channels Television that the poll was conducted peacefully.
