FCTA to construct Gwagwa, Karimo, Dei-Dei Road-Wike
In an effort to alleviate traffic congestion, the FCT Administration would build the Gwagwa, Karimo, and Dei-Dei roads, according to Mr. Nyesom Wike, the minister of the FCT.
The promise was made by Wike during Wednesday’s inauguration of the Saburi 1 and 2 access roads in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Abuja.
Starting at Deidei International Market, the road connects Old Keffi Road to the Outer Northern Motorway (Murtala Mohammed Motorway, sometimes called Zuba Kubwa Motorway).
Following a plea from AMAC Chairman Mr. Christopher Maikalangu to the minister to consider widening the route in order to alleviate traffic congestion, the decision to construct the road was made.
The road was in a terrible condition, too narrow, and needed extension for the road users, despite Maikalangu describing it as a strategic commercial road in the entire FCT.
Additionally, he mentioned that the Saburi Road, which connects the highway to Old Keffi Road, would alleviate the people’s hardship, especially during the rainy season.
When finished, he said, the road would spur economic growth and other improvements to the region.
Wike then asked the assembled crowd whether they agreed with Maikalangu’s proposal to build the Gwagwa-Karimo-Dei-Dei road, to which the overjoyed locals gave an enthusiastic yes.
After that, the minister said, “Think it done.
When the government takes into account the requirements of its citizens, this is what constitutes good governance, in his view.
Since they make up the bulk of our population, Mr. President has stressed the need of paying attention to our rural residents.
According to him, it’s important to address the housing situation of both the wealthy and the poor in order to alleviate insecurity, boost economic activity, and ensure that farmers can sell their commodities at market.
To fulfil his campaign pledge of delivering the rewards of democracy to the people, he urged the locals to pray for President Bola Tinubu’s health and for God’s direction.
He announced that within the next three months, new roads will be launched throughout the six FCT areas.
The minister explained that the pledge was in keeping with President Tinubu’s renewed hope programme and aimed at keeping people’s hopes alive.
To help fund more infrastructure projects in rural areas, he pleaded with the Senate and House Committees on FCT to approve the FCT statutory budget that would be presented soon.
Alhaji Idris Musa, Chief of Jiwa, had previously expressed gratitude to Wike for building rural roads in all six area councils.
All of us here in Jiwa Chiefdom are celebrating a wonderful day with our fellow Nigerians. “We are quite appreciative of the route you are now building,” he remarked.
Subsequently, Musa made an announcement about the FCT Minister being bestowed with the traditional title of Jagaban (Chief Warrior) Kudu of Jiwa Chiefdom. This is the fifth traditional title that the minister has received from FCT communities.
The FCT Minister has reportedly launched the construction of six rural roads totaling 42.2 kilometres across six Area Councils.
The roads encompass eleven kilometres in the Kwali Area Council, five kilometres of dual carriageway in Kuje, nine kilometres in Gwagwalada, seven and a half kilometres in Bwari, and five kilometres in Abaji and AMAC, respectively.
