DSS Issues Advisory: Warns Nigerians against Crowded Gatherings
Nigerians are being cautioned by the Department of State Services (DSS) not to attend large gatherings in order to avert possible dangers.
Public safety threats, particularly IEDs, necessitate heightened vigilance, according to a warning issued Friday by DSS spokesman Peter Afunanya.
Not only did Afunanya extend his best wishes to Muslims as Ramadan began and Christians as Lent began, but he also urged the public to notify the authorities of any suspicious behaviour.
Since the service is about tolerance, brotherhood, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence among the people, he warned traditional rulers, religious leaders, and others involved against economic exploitation, sabotage, and profiteering during these important observances.

Public risks, particularly improvised explosive devices (IEDs),” the notification added, advising residents to stay watchful.
“Also, it is highly recommended that the general population stays informed about potential dangers, stays away from busy or suspicious areas, and reports any unusual objects, actions, or movements of hostile elements to the relevant security agencies.”
He claims that the DSS acknowledges the importance of these religious ceremonies by encouraging reverent individuals to foster mutual understanding, kindness, and respect before, during, and after the performances.
“Therefore, the management cordially wishes followers of various faiths peace, unity, and harmony,” the secret police spokesperson stated. The importance of these sacred rituals is acknowledged by the DSS, who urge worshippers to foster mutual understanding, kindness, and respect both during and after the ceremonies.
Stakeholders are urged not to take advantage of, sabotage, or profit from these crucial responsibilities. The fact that unlawful activities like price gouging and unethical marketing violate fairness and might desecrate sacred events further emphasises this point.
It is our responsibility as believers to maintain high standards and make sure that everyone can practise their religion freely and without discrimination. In addition, the service stresses the importance of religious leaders and clergy maintaining empathy, cooperation, and conflict prevention even after the referenced periods have passed.
In a similar vein, the media should make use of their influence to promote debates that are well-informed and truthful, as this will help forward national security goals and interests.
On the same note, locals should be on high alert for any potential public threats, including IEDs. Additionally, it is strongly recommended that individuals remain educated about possible dangers, stay away from busy or suspicious places, and notify the appropriate security agencies of any unusual items, actions, or movements associated with hostile individuals.
Tolerance, brotherhood, debate, and peaceful coexistence are all emphasised in the service. In order to ensure national security, the service reiterates its commitment to sharing strategic intelligence with other sister agencies.
Let us love and share the principles that bind us as we embark on these spiritual journeys during the Lenten and Ramadan months. Together, we can build a better world by standing firm on core principles like kindness, tolerance, forgiveness, and “being our brother’s keeper.”
