Reps pass salary measure for judicial officers, allowing CJN to receive N5.39 million monthly.
The head judge of Nigeria is projected to get a monthly salary of N5.39 million, according to a bill that was passed by the House of Representatives for an Act to examine the wages, allowances, and fringe benefits of judicial officers.
In the executive bill that President Bola Tinubu presented to the Green Chamber on Tuesday, there is a provision for a monthly stipend of N4.48 million for the president of the court of appeal and a total of N4.21 million for the other judges of the supreme court.
A monthly package of 3.73 million naira is anticipated for the justices of the Court of Appeal, 3.73 million for the chief justice of the federal high court, 3.53 million for the president of the state’s customary court of appeal, 3.53 million for the chief judge of the state’s high court, 3.53 million for the president of the national industrial court, 3.53 million for the chief judge of the federal capital territory high court, 3.53 million for the chief judge of the state’s high court, and 3.53 million for the chief justices of the state high courts, presidents of the state’s high courts, customary courts, and courts of appeals.
Included in the monthly package are basic salaries and all regular allowances, such as those for car fueling and maintenance, personal assistance, entertainment, utilities, security, outfits, journal subscriptions, medicals, service allowances, restricted or forced lifestyles, dual responsibility, and legal researchers.
Similarly, the House also authorised other job-related allowances that are separate from the entire monthly package. These include, but are not limited to, severance gratuity of N80,78m upon tenure completion, duty tour allowances where applicable, and leave allowances of $2,000 per night.
An officer can also choose to take out a car loan, with the payback date set for before their term end
