2027: Peter Obi will be the only candidate for president from the Labour Party.

Mr. Peter Obi, head of the Labour Party, has been announced as the exclusive recipient of the party’s 2027 ticket by the National Convention, the apex decision-making body.

At the same time, the party made it known that Abia State Governor Alex Oti has the option to run for reelection on their ticket, should he so desire.

A communiqué issued following Wednesday’s party national convention in Nnewi, Anambra State, included this resolution.

Comrade Julius Abure, the newly re-elected party national chairman, and Umar Faruk Ibrahim, the party’s national secretary, both put their signatures on it.

The presidential ticket for 2027 should be reserved exclusively for His Excellency, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, the national leader of the party, according to the communique, which was based on the candidate’s antecedents before, during, and after the 2023 general election.

A vote of confidence was passed and the 2027 Abia State gubernatorial ticket of the party was recommended to be reserved for His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, after the Convention in session reviewed the ongoing development and performance of the governor in Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti.
