Governor Fintiri honours Dr. Amos Edgar Sunday, his COS, on his 60th birthday and his outstanding accomplishments.
Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has commended Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday, his current chief of staff, for his outstanding accomplishments while working for the state.
He is what Fintiri called a classic government servant who has devoted his career to helping the state and the country.
The governor proposed the move in honour of Dr. Edgar’s sixty-year birthday and official retirement from civil service during his address at the Government House Banquet Hall in Yola.
Through his deputy, Prof. Kaletapwa G. Farauta, Fintiri characterised Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday as a focused, dependable, honest, trustworthy, and direct man whose dedication to duty has brought him great recognition and rewards.
He said Edgar’s ascent to the highest position of the state’s head of civil service was not accidental but rather the result of his pursuit of fair and high-quality service provision.
After wishing him a happy sixty years of age and a successful retirement from the civil service, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri prayed to God for continued good health and productive years.
Earlier in his opening remarks, Boss Mustapha, the immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), praised God Almighty for supporting Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday during his years of service.
“Today’s event is more of a celebration of a birthday as well as of a transition of someone from the civil service to the public service,” he said.
Thanking Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for designating Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday as his Chief of Staff, Mr. Boss Mustapha reassured him that Sunday would be able to provide high-quality service in his new role.
He informed the audience that Edgar is a trustworthy, moral, and committed individual that everyone will value having as a friend or duty partner because of his neutrality.
As such, he prayed to God to grant him long, healthy years of honourable service to humanity as well as a sound intellect.
Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Kashere in Gombe State, Prof. Umar Pate, thanked the event organisers for thinking him qualified to give a lecture on the subject of “Identity, Diversity, and Solidarity: A Case for a National Praxis.”
He called Dr. Edgar a well-educated, global Nigerian with a dynamic, comprehensive, and broad perspective on life and society development.
“He is a bridge builder with exceptional interpersonal skills that cut over boundaries of religion, race, and career. He is a model of humility combined with a sophisticated and sympathetic personality.
Among the things we sorely need among Nigerians to create the united democratic nation of our dreams are his character and behaviour.”
As a way to promote peaceful cohabitation among the many ethnic groups in Nigeria, Prof. Pate consequently urged tolerance and respect for one another.
“To deliver with equity, fairness, justice, and speed, we should enhance our institutions like the security, education, and civil service.
Especially the revival of the LGA system to serve people at the lower levels, we should guarantee accountability and good governance at all levels to meet the anxieties, hopes, and expectations of Nigerians wherever they may be,” he advised.
Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday praised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for allowing him to work in his administration in his vote of appreciation. And I thanked everyone equally, especially the guest lecturer and the occasion chairman, for making time to rejoice with him and asking God to guide everyone back to their different places safely.
