Restructuring EFCC, Olukoyede Names 14 Zonal Directors and a Chief of Staff
Michael Nzekwe was named Chief of Staff by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman Mr. Ola Olukoyede.
As part of reorganising the EFCC, he has also named Zonal Directors for each of the 14 Zonal Commands of the Commission.
Olukayode said that the current reorganisation seeks to reposition and fortify the EFCC so that it may carry out its duty as given.
The new positions and modifications were disclosed in a statement released on Saturday by Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity of the anti-graft agency.
Nzekwe is a Commission course-one officer who he referred to as a top-notch investigator, attorney, and former Commander of the Ilorin Zonal Command.
He has held positions with the Commission in the Legal and Prosecution Department, the Department of Operations (now the Department of Investigations), Servicom, the Department of Internal Affairs (now the Department of Ethics and Integrity), and the Asset Forfeiture Department.
Being an experienced administrator, he attended the Advance Defence Intelligence Officers Course, which was organised by the Defence Intelligence Agency, DIA. The statement said, “He has started work immediately after his appointment took effect.
In reorganising and reallocating the EFCC, Olukayode gave each of the commission’s Zonal Commands departmental status with a director at their head.
“To this effect, we have appointed 14 new directors to head each of the Zonal Commands,” Oyewale said in the statement.
To strengthen the commission’s security architecture, the EFCC also elevated the Security Unit to the status of a department and named an experienced officer as Director, Security, and Chief Security Officer.
Furthermore, Mr. Friday Ebelo, the Director and Coordinator, Special Duties, at the commission’s corporate headquarters and a former Makurdi Zonal Commander of the EFCC, has created a new department in the Executive Chairman’s office.
The Department of Internal Affairs was also replaced with the Department of Ethics and Integrity, and a few other departments at the headquarters have had minor restructures.
