JAMB Releases 2024 UTME Results, 8,401 Score 300 And Above

The 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results have been issued by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of JAMB, made the announcement of the UTME results during a press conference at the board’s Bwari, on the outskirts of Abuja, headquarters.

Over 1.94 million applicants enrolled for and took the test in 118 towns and more than 700 venues nationwide, according to Oloyede.

Examining started on Friday, April 19, and finished on Monday, April 29. Of the 1,989,668 candidates that were registered, 80,810 were not present. Within the six days of the exam, 1,904,189 candidates took the UTME.

A meagre 0.4% of the 1,842,464 results that were made public scored above 300, while 24% got 50% (200/400) or more, according to the JAMB head.

Of the candidates who scored less than 200, he mentioned 1,1,402,490, or 76 percent. Still, JAMB reiterated its intention to withhold the name of the candidate with the highest score.

“It is common knowledge that the Board has, at various times, restated its unwillingness to publish the names of its best-performing candidates, as it considers its UTME as only a ranking examination on account of the other parameters that would constitute what would later be considered the minimum admissible score for candidates seeking admission to tertiary institutions,” Oloyede said.

The number of candidates who took the test was further broken down to reveal that there were more women than men.

982,393 boys, or 49.4 percent, registered in the 2024 UTME, according to the JAMB registrar, compared to 1,007,275 girls, or 50.6 percent.

“Over a million girls have registered for the test, indicating a notable increase in female enrollment,” Oloyede stated.

This is the first time in three years that there will be more females than males.

Three thousand and sixteen people with impairments registered overall.

The JAMB chief informed the audience that the number of PLWDs enrolled has increased by 36.2% over the previous year.

The exam board stated that applicants who participated in the 2024 UTME conducted by JAMB can verify the results of the exercise by taking a few easy steps.

It is advised of the candidates to text UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019 using the phone numbers they used to register. JAMB added that there is no need to visit any CBT centre or cybercafé to check results.

“A candidate with a result will receive the message: ‘Dear ‘Candidate X’, your result is as follows (and the details will be provided).'”
