God had preordained my reinstatement. Emir Sanusi says

The state administration is thanked by the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who has attributed his reinstatement to God’s will.

Restored on Thursday, Sanusi received his appointment letter one day after Governor Abba Yusuf signed the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Bill 2024 into law.

His reinstatement resulted from the action four years after he was overthrown by Abdullahi Ganduje, the governor of the North-West state.

Emir Sanusi declared his reinstatement to be divine during a gathering to receive Governor Yusuf’s appointment letter.

“The Arabians used to believe that there is a lesson that reveals God is present in everything we see. Allah has predetermined whatever happens to a person, and for those who are wise enough, it serves as a lesson.Just after receiving the letter on Friday, he said at the Government House in Kano that God is one and that nobody can alter anything He does or does not do.

Former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso presented me with my appointment letter as the Emir of Kano here over ten years ago. I am here once more today, ten years later, to pick up a letter of reappointment from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

“Long conversations are not possible in this time. We stated whatever we needed to as we were heading out. We established unequivocally that God has predetermined the moment and reason for everything and everyone. He assigns leadership to those He chooses, when He chooses. Nothing can be taken away from Him when He provides, and nothing can be returned when He takes it away.

Restoring him, he added, was a “rescue mission,” and he also praised the governor and members of the Kano State House of Assembly.

“You won’t realise the significance of what you achieved for Kano’s and the nation’s history, my governor and our assembly members. It began among Kano Emirs more than a millennium ago in Bagauda. Just once in these years did we have an Emir, Muhammadu Koguna, who was toppled and then returned a few days later. This indicates that nothing comparable to what happened now has occurred in a millennium.

“We have seen how politicians have balkanized emirates in several states in the northern region of this country; a state with one emir became 20, some 19. The system was dismantled, thus local governments in northern Nigeria had two or three first-class Emirs.

If this had been allowed, we would wake up to 44 Emirs, including the Emirs of Kumbotso, Bichi, and Fagge. It is therefore a rescue operation that the legislature and the government carried out. When he got his appointment letter, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, the newly appointed Emir of Kano, said these things.
