FRSC will revoke licences of disorderly drivers – Corps Marshal
In an effort to reduce traffic accidents, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has stated its intention to deactivate the licences of disobedient drivers.
While assessing the outcomes of the 2024 Eid-el-Kabir Special Patrol Operations, which took place from Friday, June 14 to Sunday, June 15, the FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, made this known in Abuja.
More than ever before, he added, the Corps has come to terms with the fact that all parties involved must work together.
By strictly implementing traffic laws and providing safety education to commuters, Mohammed claimed that his country was able to cut down on road accidents and fatalities.
“We are cognizant of the fact that if we let this opportunity pass, history will hold us accountable for our incompetence in handling the challenges, and the consequences of our carelessness will reverberate for years to come. Therefore, we must make every effort to surpass our previous achievements in all our future endeavours.”
He went on to say that the review exercise was an essential tool for the Corps to reach the distance goals set for the time periods in question.
Among these, he claims, is bolstering the existing Inter-agency Joint Task Force (JTF) to reduce trailer drivers’ abuses.
According to the head of the FRSC, the Corps maintained strong communication with the state traffic management agencies, the FCT Department of Road Traffic Services, and other transportation unions and security organisations.
