Joint Tax Board rates Adamawa high in resource utilisation.
The Adamawa State Government has been lauded by the Joint Tax Board for ensuring that resources intended for the people are used efficiently.
On Monday, the Board’s Secretary, Olusegun Adesokan, led a team visited the Government House in Yola, observing that the Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri administration exemplifies a disciplined government that spends taxpayer money wisely.
He stated that infrastructure development demonstrates effective governance.
According to the governor’s Chief press secretary, Humwashi Wonosoiku, the JTB secretary announced that the Joint Tax Board is in Adamawa for regional tax business training to ensure effective tax collection.
Mr. Adesokan underlined the necessity of employing technology to increase tax collection, especially in the context of progressive taxation, which raises taxes on the wealthy and large corporations.
He urged the Adamawa State Government, through the Internal Revenue Board, to continue on the path of improved development and economic progress.
Dr. Edgar Amos, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s Chief of Staff, expressed gratitude to the administration for its years of cooperation.
While commending the Board for prioritising training and technology, the Governor underlined that, in addition to collecting, they must combat corruption and close loopholes in the tax system.
During the Yola workshop, attendees will explore tax audits, enforcement, and compliance.
