Refineries in Warri and Kaduna to Be Turned Over to Private Companies by NNPCL

The Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company and the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company are being managed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, which is looking to hire trustworthy operations and maintenance firms.

Its official X handle made the announcement public on Friday.

Constructed in 1978, the Warri refinery is situated in Warri, Delta State. Nameplate distillation capacity at Warri is 6,250,000 MTA (125,000 bpd), making it a difficult conversion refinery. One part of the complex of refineries is a petrochemical facility that was operational in 1988 and can produce 13,000 MTA of polypropylene and 18,000 MTA of carbon black. The refinery’s target market is the southwestern and southern parts of Nigeria.

The Kaduna refinery, which could produce 50,000 B/D of petroleum products, started producing them in 1980 and supplied Northern Nigeria.

By incorporating an additional 50,000 B/D crude train specifically for the manufacture of lubricating oils (lubes), the capacity was increased to 100,000 B/D in 1983. They raised the capacity of the first crude train to 60,000 B/D in 1986. As a result of the upgrades, the refinery can now process 110,000 B/D of feedstock.
