Tinubu grants 50% power subsidy to hospitals, others

To help public hospitals and schools with their electricity bills, President Bola Tinubu has authorised a 50% subsidy.

Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of State for Health, made the announcement during a press conference in Kaduna on Thursday, just after the National Ear Care Centre’s projects were inaugurated.

There will be a powerhouse, a molecular laboratory, a student hostel, an auditorium with 200 seats, an operating room, a female/children’s ward, an ENT specialists’ clinic, and an oxygen plant.

As per Alausa, the subsidy is set to be applied soon by the Minister of Power as part of the President’s endeavours to boost the health and education sectors.

Public hospitals, colleges of education, polytechnics, and universities would have much cheaper energy bills thanks to the subsidies, he claims, so they can put more money into providing excellent healthcare.

In a statement, the minister praised President Tinubu for his dedication to bettering the lives of Nigerians, highlighting his focus on health and education.

He claims that the subsidies will allow public hospitals to improve healthcare services and schools to concentrate on teaching children in Nigeria a high-quality curriculum.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. Yesterday, I spoke about his magnanimity towards the health sector,” Alausa remarked.

All public hospitals and educational systems, including universities, polytechnics, and institutes of education, will receive a 50% electricity subsidy, according to the president. The decision has been made. Created by the Minister of Power is the procedure for execution.

“Reducing the prices paid for energy tariffs by hospital and public education systems is going to happen very soon.”

Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, who is representing Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, praised Dr. Abubakar Yaro, the Centre’s Chief Medical Director, for his leadership and commitment to the center’s transformation earlier.

Additionally, he expressed his gratitude to Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of State for Health, for his leadership, direction, and support of the centre, and he expressed hope that the centre will maintain its backing from the parent ministry.

The governor claims that these initiatives show how seriously the government takes the health and wellbeing of its residents.

To guarantee that Nigerians get the greatest healthcare possible, he reassured the minister that the state government will keep funding the center’s expansion and improvement.

The current administration has prioritised the health and wellness of our citizens, and the projects being commissioned today—which include a female/children’s ward, an oxygen plant, a molecular laboratory, a powerhouse, an ENT specialists clinic, an operating theatre, and a student hostel—attest to that.Under Dr. Abubakar Yaro’s direction, the National Ear Care Centre has achieved outstanding success, and I am obligated to recognise it. He turned this specialised hospital into an innovation and efficiency powerhouse, demonstrating his dedication to quality and results.

The Kaduna State Government is committed to supporting the center’s growth into a leading institution in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, and research in Nigeria and West Africa.

I want to thank the minister for all of his hard work and dedication to the centre. If the parent ministry is serious about helping the centre succeed, they need to back it up.

The governor went on to say that since its opening in 1999, the National Ear Care Centre has been an invaluable resource for ENT illness research, training, and specialised treatment.
