Tinubu to swear in seven newly appointed ministers.
On Monday, President Bola Tinubu will swear in seven newly appointed ministers.
According to a statement released Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will swear in the new seven ministers tomorrow (Monday). “The ministers are Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Labour and Employment; and Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of State Foreign Affairs,” he stated.
“Others are Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment (Trade and Investment), Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development; Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of State, Housing, and Urban Development; and Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, Minister of State Education.”
The ministers were cleared by the Senate last week after being screened in Abuja. President Bola Tinubu appointed them after reorganising his government in response to cries for change.
Tinubu dismissed five ministers, proposed seven more, and sent their names to the Senate for approval. He also reassigned 10 ministers to new portfolios.
Betta Edu’s suspension ended with the nomination of Bianca as Minister of State Foreign Affairs and the selection of Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
The President also appointed Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment, Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Idi Maiha as Minister of the newly established Livestock Development Ministry, Yusuf Ata as Minister of State, Housing, and Urban Development, and Suwaiba Ahmad as Minister of State Education.
President Tinubu removed Uju-Ken Ohanenye as Minister of Women Affairs, Lola Ade-John as Minister of Tourism, Tahir Mamman as Minister of Education, Abdullahi Gwarzo as Minister of State, Housing, and Urban Development, and Jamila Ibrahim as Minister of Youth Development.
Tinubu selected 48 ministers approximately three months after taking office as president, in August 2023.
However, due to the severe economic situation, calls for a cabinet reshuffle have reached historic proportions. Tinubu listened to the demands and reshuffled his cabinet just over a year after their appointment, intending to strengthen his administration.
