Monarch coronation: We cannot be defined by fear—Gov. Fintiri

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, Wednesday, presented the symbol of authority and Staff of Office to the new paramount ruler of Madagali kingdom, His Royal Majesty, HRM, Dr. Ali Danburam, Ptil the first.

Speaking shortly after performing the coronation rites at the Madagali township stadium, the governor noted that under his leadership the state had witnessed the coronation of six paramount rulers in the state.

While stressing the tremendous progress the traditional institution had made in the state under his watch, the governor recalled, among others, that he had given priority attention to the welfare of traditional rulers in the state, pointing out that he had also bought befitting cars for the chiefs.

He said, “Under my watch, the traditional institution has made tremendous progress. The welfare of traditional rulers has been given top priority.

“Your Royal Majesty, your selection by the selection committee as the first Ptil has undoubtedly brought joy to the people of Madagali and the state.

“I have no doubt that your reign will be peaceful. It is my further conviction that the support you are enjoying from your subjects will be sustained, and together you can make Adamawa better than you have met it.

“Madagali is a land of warriors. We are a people whose spirits cannot be broken, whose traditions cannot be erased, and whose resilience cannot be defeated. Even in our darkest hour, we refused to be defined by fear.

During his acceptance speech, the paramount ruler pledged to usher in an era of fairness, equity, justice, and peace as his guiding principles.

The royal father pronounced peace and progress in the land.

The event attracted dignitaries and traditional rulers from various parts of the country.
