2027 Polls: ‘I am ready to work with Peter Obi,’ Governor Mohammed Declares

Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, has pledged his support for Labour Party candidate Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mohammed, who received the 2023 LP presidential candidate at Government House on Thursday, said he was eager to collaborate with Obi.

The closed-door discussion at Bauchi’s Ramat House lasted more than an hour and was followed by a press briefing.
However, neither party confirmed if the meeting would result in a future political coalition.

“As a person, I am willing to work with Peter Obi to ensure that we come together, close ranks, and deliver excellent governance to the country. We will give a lively opposition with expertise, timeliness, and vision, assisting in the rescue and recovery of our country from the mediocrity who pose as leaders.

“The time has come to step out and do things with fidelity, sincerity, and focus,” Mohammed stated.

“Our coming together sends a message, and I believe it will reverberate because all of our colleagues, the Governors, support this type of trip. We are grateful to Governor Obi for visiting here.

We will pick it up and move it forward in such a way that you will see more of these collaborative initiatives between us, Governor Obi, the PDP Governors, and the PDP as a whole.”

The governor stated that they discussed a number of topics, particularly those impacting various states, including challenges in Rivers State. He expressed gratitude to Obi for his care.

He stated, “It’s a pleasure to work with him and listen to him, his extensive knowledge, and statistics. The PDP has always showed admiration and interest in him.Behind the scenes, I have been meeting with him. This is not the first time we have met.

In fact, I met him in Abuja and was ready to meet him again, but in his customary humility, he opted to come here.”

Obi indicated that his visit was to discuss national issues, consult with the governor, and look into methods to handle the country’s challenges together. He also stated that this discourse would be an ongoing cooperation.

“I came here basically to discuss our dear country, to consult, being the chair of the PDP Governors Forum and a critical figure in Nigeria’s politics today,” Obi indicated.

“Given what our country is going through, I felt it was vital to come and debate the future of our beloved country with him. So this is just a consultation and discussion meeting that will continue as we discuss the country’s destiny.”

He stated that Nigerians are aware of the country’s current state of affairs and that these issues, particularly the challenges faced by northern Nigeria, must be addressed.

“The North is a critical component if we are going to get it right in this country,” Obi said the crowd.

He emphasised the importance of addressing poverty and the North’s enormous investment in agriculture. He also advised the country to prioritise vital national issues above petty matters.
