We have subdued terrorists in Kebbi and Zamfara — Army

Brigadier General Timothy Opurum, Commander of One Brigade, Nigerian Army, Gusau, has claimed that troops deployed under Operation Fansar Yamma have drastically reduced terrorist activity in their area of responsibility, which includes Kebbi and Zamfara states.

General Opurum made the announcement on Tuesday evening at a Sallah luncheon for commanders, soldiers, and their families at the Brigade Cantonment in Gusau.

According to him, the security situation was previously hard, but thanks to continued military operations and personnel dedication, the army has achieved command over the region and significantly reduced terrorist activity.

“The One Brigade has been performing effectively in our operations, particularly the ongoing Forest Sanity III. You will recall that it was not easy a few months ago, but through the efforts of our troops and officers, we were able to dominate our AOR and subdue the terrorists to a large extent.”

The Commander praised the troops for their sacrifices and unwavering commitment, noting that in recognition of their efforts, the Chief of Army Staff has approved additional logistics support to strengthen their operations even further.

He ordered the soldiers to keep up the momentum and redouble their efforts to secure the Northwest states for peace and economic growth.

“Because of our accomplishment, the Chief of Army Staff has graciously granted key logistics that will allow us to continue our operations. It signifies to whom much is given, much is required; it means we must double our efforts; it is not yet complete; much work remains to be done.”

“We must continue to fight until we destroy all enemies of the state and make Zamfara State, Kebbi State, and all states within the northwest region of this operation safe and secure for socio-economic progress.”

The event also included a moment of silence to remember fallen soldiers who died while on duty.
