BREAKING: FG declares May 1 public holiday

The federal government has announced that Thursday, May 1, 2025, will be observed as a public holiday in recognition of this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.

The government highlighted the importance of peace as a catalyst for industrialisation and economic development.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the decision in a statement issued on Tuesday on behalf of the Federal Government.

Tunji-Ojo praised the workforce for their dedication and commitment, emphasising that their contributions are primarily what elevate the nation and earn Nigeria respect among the global community.

“There is dignity in labour; dedication and commitment to our work are essential for nation-building,” the minister stated.

Tunji-Ojo encouraged employees to adopt a culture of innovation and productivity.

He motivated employees to elevate the standards of their profession to enhance governance and ensure that all citizens of Nigeria can fully benefit from the nation’s resources.

“This administration is dedicated to ensuring the safety of life and property for all citizens and foreigners within the country,” he assured the public.

“In extending warm wishes for a joyful celebration to the workforce, the honourable minister emphasised the importance of maintaining hope, highlighting the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he added.
