2027: Coalition  Not A Tsunami; We’ve Chased Buccaneers and Vampires Away – Wike

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, believes that the newly formed coalition lacks the resources to address the country’s concerns, describing its members as unqualified individuals.

Ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), former Senate President David Mark, and ex-governor of Kaduna State Nasir El-Rufai are among the leading figures in the coalition that used the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a platform to depose Bola Tinubu’s government.

Wike, on the other hand, appears unconcerned about the development, which many in politics have referred to as a tsunami.

“No, that’s not a tsunami,” the FCT minister told Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday. “There is no tsunami. We have sent away the buccaneers and vampires.”

Tinubu took over an economy that had completely collapsed. The entire thing had crumbled, and Nigeria was ready to be buried, says Wike.

Talks about forming a coalition have been ongoing for several months. However, on Tuesday, members of the group chose the ADC as their party for the 2027 elections.

They named Mark as interim chairman of the ADC and Rauf Aregbesola, a former minister of the interior, as secretary.

In his acceptance address, Mark stated that the alliance is set to restore democracy and prevent Nigeria from becoming a one-party state.

“Make it clear to everyone that this combination of national political opposition groups is about more than just gaining political power. “It is a concerted effort to rebuild the crumbling pillars of Nigerian democracy,” he stated.

“The mission is clear: rescue Nigeria. Rebuild Nigeria. “Return power to the people,” Mark explained.

Members of the coalition accused Tinubu’s leadership of wrecking the economy and driving more Nigerians into poverty.

However, Wike accused opposition MPs of pursuing a personal agenda and defended the administration’s policies.

“He took over a defunct economy. Was completely gone,” Wike stated on the broadcast.

The minister declared, “Nigeria was prepared to be buried. Fortunately, it hasn’t been buried. Someone [Tinubu] arrived and said, ‘No, I will not allow you to be buried’.”

Wike’s statement came a day after former Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi claimed Tinubu’s administration “buried” Nigeria’s economy.

“The current government has absolutely destroyed the economy. Amaechi stated on Thursday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today that any economy that does not put money in the pockets of Nigerians is not economic policy.
