Coalition: You Will Not Return To Power, Wike Tells Amaechi.

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has condemned former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi’s partnership with the opposition coalition to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

“You are angry because you left the office. You mentioned that Nigerians are angry. When Vice President Kashim Shettima commissioned the renovated Aguma Palace Road and the New Market Road in the Gwagwalada Area Council of the nation’s capital on Friday, Wike chastised Amaechi for wanting to return to power but refusing to do so.

Amaechi, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, has expressed interest in running for Aso Rock’s top post again on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform, stating that he is eager to serve a four-year term.

According to Amaechi, Tinubu has mismanaged the economy, while former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has outperformed the incumbent’s record.

Amaechi and Wike have a shared past as former governors of Rivers State in Nigeria’s oil-rich Niger Delta region. Amaechi was governor of Rivers State from May 2007 to May 2015, when he handed over power to Wike, who remained in office for another eight years.Wike, a major minister in Tinubu’s APC administration, left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) years ago, whereas Amaechi recently quit the APC to join the newly formed ADC opposition coalition, which seeks to depose the APC and President Tinubu.

In direct response to Amaechi’s ambitions, Wike asked the ex-minister and his ADC coalition allies to “show their scorecards.”

“You never made angry Nigerians happy, but Tinubu stayed in office for six months, and you started saying Nigerians are angry,” Wike added, bragging about defeating Amaechi’s party in the previous two Rivers State presidential elections.

“They claimed the coalition had begun…”When will you stop fooling Nigerians? Someone took office six months after you established the coalition, but you had the opportunity to be Minister of Transport for eight years. “What did you do?” he enquired.
