Your Support Symbolises Great Honour to My Father’s Memory, Buhari’s Son Tells Tinubu

Yusuf Buhari, son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for honouring his father with a befitting state funeral.

Speaking during an expanded Federal Executive Council (FEC) session held in Abuja on Thursday in honour of the late former leader, Yusuf said the support shown by Tinubu and the Nigerian people was a powerful testament to his father’s legacy.

Attending the session alongside his siblings, Yusuf thanked President Tinubu and his administration for their solidarity with the bereaved family.

“We are sincerely grateful to you, Mr. President, and your entire team for the immense support and the honour accorded to our father. It has shown that he was regarded not just as a politician, but also as a friend and a father,” Yusuf said.

He also extended appreciation to the National Assembly, the Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Radda, other state governors, and Nigerians at large for standing by the family during their time of grief.

“I wish to thank the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and all the distinguished and honourable members of the National Assembly for honouring the memory of our late father during the state burial in Daura,” he said.

“Your visits, calls, and prayers symbolise a tremendous honour to the memory of our late father, and we are sincerely grateful for all the support and solidarity extended to the family. May Allah continue to bless us all.”

Overcome with emotion, Yusuf added, “Thank you, Daddy. Thank you, Daddy. Thank you, Daddy. May Allah continue to bless, provide, and protect you throughout your tenure.”

President Muhammadu Buhari passed away on Sunday at a clinic in London at the age of 82. His remains were received by President Tinubu and laid to rest in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday, July 15.

Buhari served as Nigeria’s President from 2015 to 2023, after earlier serving as the country’s military Head of State from 1983 to 1985.
