Ganye Election: Don’t Be Hoodwinked by Grading Machine – Fintiri’s Aide admonish Electorate
As political activities intensify in Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State ahead of the forthcoming election, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Humwashi Wonosikou, has issued a strong warning to voters not to be deceived by what he describes as “cosmetic gestures” by the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly the sudden deployment of a grading machine to the area.
Speaking to journalists in Yola, Wonosikou accused the APC of engaging in last-minute public relations stunts aimed at swaying public support. He described the recent road grading exercise as a mere election gimmick intended to create a false impression of development.
“The people of Ganye are far too enlightened to be hoodwinked by a grading machine. What we are witnessing is a desperate attempt by the APC to buy public sympathy. These are the same people who turned their backs on the people of Ganye for years. Now, with elections approaching, they appear with bulldozers as though that erases their history of neglect,” Wonosikou said.
He further slammed the APC for failing to act on key infrastructure projects such as the Jalingo–Numan and Numan–Gombe roads, accusing them of only springing into action after Governor Fintiri mobilised contractors to commence work on the Ganye -Mbulo Road.
“These are the same APC leaders who abandoned major federal roads for years. Now, because Governor Fintiri has taken the initiative to flag off the construction of Ganye- Mbulo Road, they suddenly feel the need to stage-manage development. The people are not fooled,” he added.
Wonosikou stressed that genuine development goes beyond superficial activities and is measured by long-term investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and job creation — areas where Governor Fintiri’s administration has delivered substantial progress.
“We urge our people to remain focused and not be distracted by last-minute theatrics. This government has a proven track record: from road construction and school rehabilitation to youth empowerment and healthcare reforms. Let no one be deceived by a grading machine raising dust a few days to election,” he reiterated.
He also called on voters in Ganye to come out en masse and exercise their democratic rights peacefully and without fear of intimidation. According to him, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains committed to inclusive governance and grassroots development.
As the campaign season peaks, the battle for Ganye is shaping up as a critical test of political will and public trust. But the message from the Fintiri camp is unmistakable: the people should not allow themselves to be misled by desperate tactics disguised as development.
