Fintiri Approves ₦5.1 Billion for Amusement Park in Yola
The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved ₦5.1 billion for the development of a modern amusement park in Yola North, as part of a broader initiative to enhance recreational infrastructure and stimulate tourism within the state.
Speaking to journalists following the council meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, outlined a series of capital approvals spanning key sectors, with a combined value running into tens of billions of naira.
Foremost among the allocations is ₦21.8 billion designated for additional construction work on the Adamawa Super Highway. The expanded route will now stretch from the “Welcome to Yola” gateway through Rumde Kila to the AA Lawal Junction, in a move aimed at improving regional connectivity and easing transport across the capital.
A further ₦2.4 billion has been set aside for the construction of internal roads within the Army Barracks, with the objective of enhancing mobility and living standards for military personnel and their families.
In the broadcasting sector, the council approved ₦184.2 million for the rehabilitation of studio complexes and the installation of new FM and AM transmitters at Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) facilities in Yola, alongside the Mambamba booster station. The investment is expected to significantly improve transmission quality and expand coverage across the state.
The education sector is also set to benefit, with ₦4.5 billion earmarked for overseas postgraduate scholarships for 100 students. Additionally, ₦395 million has been approved for the procurement of assorted science textbooks for junior and senior secondary schools.
Another ₦1.6 billion was allocated for the rehabilitation of the NYSC Orientation Camp Gate–Borong Road in the Girei/Demsa axis.
Mr Iliya said the newly approved projects reflect Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s commitment to infrastructure development, educational opportunity, and youth engagement. The amusement park, he added, is expected to become a landmark recreational and tourism destination, with the potential to contribute meaningfully to the local economy.
