New Era for Adamawa PDP as Fresh Executives Emerge in Peaceful Congress

The Adamawa State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has entered a new era of leadership following the successful election of a fresh executive team at the party’s state congress held at Ribadu Square, Yola.

The congress, which many observers described as one of the most peaceful and transparent in recent political history, was marked by an impressive turnout of party loyalists, supporters, and delegates. The atmosphere was vibrant as party members gathered in large numbers to witness the emergence of leaders who will steer the PDP’s affairs in the state for the next four years.

Chairman of the Congress Committee, Barr. Dave K. Iorhemba, while declaring the results, commended delegates for conducting themselves with maturity and discipline. He described the congress as exemplary, emphasizing its fairness, transparency, and smooth execution.

The newly elected State Chairman is Hon. Hamza Alhaji Bello, popularly known as Hamza Madagali. He will be supported by Engr. Belmond Dogo as Deputy Vice Chairman, Alhaji Sahid Umar as Vice Chairman (South), Alhaji Shekarau Yerima as Vice Chairman (Central), and Hon. Steven Doma as Vice Chairman (North). Hon. Saleh Mohammed was elected as the State Secretary.

Also elected into key positions are Barr. Ishaku Y. Daniel as Legal Adviser, Bature Moses as Auditor, Hon. Titus Ismaila as Organizing Secretary, Hon. Victor Dogo as Publicity Secretary, and Ahmadu Dahiru as Treasurer. Suzan Zira emerged as the Women Leader, while Dedan Clifford was elected Youth Leader. The team also includes Jafaru Yusuf as Financial Secretary, alongside several assistant officers and ex-officio members representing various zones of the state.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Bello expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and the entire PDP family for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the party at such a crucial time.

“As His Excellency always reminds us, no one should be left behind, and nothing should be left untouched. That will be our compass,” he said.

He assured party members that his leadership would be inclusive and people-focused, promising that everyone—from the grassroots to the top—would have a voice, a role, and a place within the party structure.

Hon. Bello praised Governor Fintiri for his transformational governance, stating that the governor had “turned Adamawa into a small London,” and vowed to build on the administration’s achievements in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

“No office is bigger than the other. Every one of us matters. We will work with mutual respect, teamwork, and a clear division of responsibilities. Our goal is unity, progress, and victory,” he said.

He also thanked the outgoing executives for their dedication and service, pledging to sustain and expand on the legacy they have left behind.

Calling for immediate action, he urged party members to put the celebrations aside and get to work.

“The time for celebration is brief. Now is the time for work. Let the PDP flag fly in every ward, every street, and every home. Let us show the people that we are ready—disciplined, united, and focused—on 2027.”

In a statesmanlike gesture, Hon. Bello extended an open invitation to members of opposition parties across the state, encouraging them to join the PDP in the collective task of building Adamawa.

“To anyone who believes in the future of this state, the PDP is your home. Our doors are open to all well-meaning citizens,” he said.

Delegates interviewed at the venue expressed satisfaction with the entire process. Many lauded Governor Fintiri for his active participation in overseeing the election, despite his demanding schedule, describing him as a hands-on leader committed to internal party democracy.

Highlights of the day included the accreditation of delegates, the voting process, sorting of ballots, and the official announcement of winners—all conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner.

With the new executives now in place, the Adamawa PDP appears poised to consolidate its strength, deepen its grassroots reach, and position itself as a formidable force ahead of the next general election.
