Tinubu tackling insecurity, Nigeria will be better by 2031 – Olubadan

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has said President Bola Tinubu is actively addressing Nigeria’s growing security challenges, expressing confidence that the situation will improve under the current administration.

The traditional ruler made the remarks on Friday after meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Ladoja described insecurity as Nigeria’s most pressing challenge, noting that fear has spread across communities and is affecting farming and everyday economic activities, including in the southern parts of the country.

He said farmers are increasingly afraid to go to their farms, while many citizens are apprehensive about moving freely to conduct their daily businesses. Despite the severity of the problem, he maintained that the situation is not insurmountable and expressed belief that the President is already tackling it.

Explaining the purpose of his visit to Aso Rock, the former Oyo State governor said he came primarily to thank Tinubu for his support, adding that he had been seeking an opportunity to visit the President since his coronation as Olubadan in September 2025.

Ladoja also spoke on Tinubu’s leadership style, recalling the President’s tenure as governor of Lagos State, during which he said Tinubu significantly improved the state’s economic fortunes.

Describing Nigeria as a complex country with diverse interests and expectations, the monarch expressed confidence that Tinubu would ultimately transform the nation, just as he did Lagos.

He said that although Nigeria’s challenges are broader than those of any single state, recent improvements in state finances and governance capacity are positive signs that the economy is gradually being fixed.

Ladoja added that he was optimistic Nigeria would be in a much better position by the time Tinubu leaves office in 2031, saying the President understands the country’s challenges and has the experience required to address them.
