Fintiri: the man they could not stop set for February launch
A new book chronicling the political rise and leadership journey of Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, is set to be unveiled in Yola on February 2, 2026, at what organisers say will be a star-studded event drawing some of Nigeria’s most influential political figures.
Titled “Fintiri: The Man They Could Not Stop,” the book tells the story of a leader who, against fierce political resistance and entrenched opposition, rose to power and went on to leave a defining mark on governance in Adamawa State. It paints a portrait of Governor Fintiri as a determined and unconventional politician whose leadership style reshaped key sectors and altered the political landscape of the state.
The publication delves into Fintiri’s journey through Nigeria’s often turbulent political terrain, detailing the battles he faced, the alliances he forged and the policy decisions that came to define his administration. It highlights major reforms and projects in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and public administration, presenting them as evidence of what the author describes as tangible progress delivered under his watch.
Written by Solomon Kumangar, a veteran journalist and former Director-General of Media and Communication to the governor, the book draws heavily on insider knowledge and first-hand experience. Kumangar combines behind-the-scenes accounts with sharp political analysis to recount decisive moments, power struggles and turning points that shaped the Fintiri administration, while placing them within Nigeria’s wider political context.
The high-profile book launch will be chaired by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, underscoring the national importance attached to the event. Former Senate President, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, is billed to deliver the keynote address, where he is expected to reflect on leadership, power and governance at a time when state-level performance is increasingly under national scrutiny.
Adding further weight to the occasion, the book will be reviewed by the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, a prominent cleric and public intellectual known for his forthright views on leadership, justice and nation-building. The formal unveiling of the book will be performed by Comrade Salihu, who will serve as the chief unveiler.
Political insiders say the launch is likely to attract a wide array of serving and former government officials, traditional rulers, party leaders, academics and media figures, turning the event into more than just a book presentation but a gathering of Nigeria’s political elite.
Organisers describe “Fintiri: The Man They Could Not Stop” as both a political biography and a leadership manual, offering lessons on resilience, strategy and public service delivery in Nigeria’s complex and often unforgiving political environment.
