Demsa lawmaker Mamuno seeks re election, cites achievements in office
The member representing Demsa Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Kate Raymond Mamuno, has declared her intention to seek a third term in office ahead of the next state assembly election.
Mamuno disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Yola, saying her decision was informed by the need to consolidate on what she described as the achievements recorded during her six years in the legislature.
She said her legislative experience, record of performance and political network influenced her decision to return to the House.
“The reason I am seeking a third term in office is to consolidate on the achievements recorded in the past six to seven years in the House through building connections and delivering on my responsibilities,” she said.
The lawmaker stated that she had sponsored several bills and motions with direct impact on the people of Demsa Local Government Area and Adamawa State.
Among the bills she listed were the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, National Health Insurance Scheme Law, Child Rights Protection Law and the Social Protection Bill.
Mamuno also said she facilitated constituency projects including the construction of classrooms, boreholes and healthcare centres across various wards in Demsa.
According to her, many youths and women in the constituency have benefited from empowerment programmes involving technical skills acquisition and financial support aimed at promoting self reliance.
Reflecting on her political journey, Mamuno said she began as Deputy Majority Leader before emerging as Majority Leader of the House.
She added that her position as Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Appropriations gave her the opportunity to attract development projects to her constituency.
According to her, the efforts contributed to the construction of road networks and a cottage hospital in Demsa town, alongside other projects across the local government area.
“We also worked closely with the executive arm of government in the creation of additional chiefdoms, emirates and districts in the state, and Demsa benefited immensely from the exercise,” she said.
Mamuno maintained that her re election bid would provide another opportunity to attract more development projects to the constituency.
She also praised the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for what she described as courage and determination in handling the affairs of the state despite political challenges.
According to her, the governor has remained committed to acting in the interest of the people.
She appealed to residents of the state to continue supporting and praying for the governor for greater success in governance.
Mamuno further called on the people of Demsa Local Government Area to support her ambition during the forthcoming state assembly primaries and the general election.
