Tinubu will deliver greater prosperity in second term, says First Lady
Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has said President Bola Tinubu will consolidate his economic reforms, strengthen national security and deliver greater prosperity if re-elected in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Saturday at the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network Grand Rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, Mrs Tinubu said the administration’s economic policies were beginning to produce positive results despite the hardship associated with the reforms.
Addressing supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the six North-Central states and the Federal Capital Territory, she said Nigeria was moving from economic adjustment towards recovery and prosperity.
In a statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady described her husband as a courageous leader committed to national unity and economic transformation.
“President Tinubu is a man who believes in the unity, security, and prosperity of our nation,” she said.
Referring to the President’s Independence Day address, titled From Reforms to Prosperity, Mrs Tinubu argued that the government’s difficult economic decisions were beginning to restore investor confidence and stabilise the economy.
“Foreign exchange is going down, and investors are coming back to Nigeria. Our farmers too, you can see all our governors here, they are doing infrastructural development like no other time before,” she said.
Her remarks come as the administration seeks to convince voters that its economic policies are delivering improvements ahead of the 2027 elections.
The First Lady also highlighted government interventions in food security, maternal health, education and social protection.
She said a food bank programme had recently been completed to support pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and malnourished children.
Mrs Tinubu urged APC supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation and persuade voters to support the continuation of the administration’s reform agenda.
“One thing I want to say is that as we all go back to our various states, tell everyone that Mr President Bola Tinubu is a leader who is very bold,” she said.
She called for the re-election of the President and other APC candidates, arguing that continuity would accelerate economic development and improve security.
“Therefore, vote for continuity, vote for capacity, vote for prosperity, vote for the re-election of Mr President and all the candidates of APC from top to bottom,” she said.
The rally was attended by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and other party leaders, who also expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election.
