INEC drops Haske from Adamawa governorship list

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has removed Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, from its updated final list of candidates for the 2027 governorship election.

The development was confirmed in the commission’s revised list published on 31 October 2026, which contains 17 governorship candidates. The APM and its previously nominated candidate were absent from the document.

Haske had appeared as candidate number eight on INEC’s earlier list released on 10 October 2026, alongside his running mate, Onatola Morakinyo Safriel.

The revised document establishes that Haske is no longer among the candidates listed to contest the election, marking a significant change to the commission’s earlier publication.

The development followed INEC’s review of complaints and petitions submitted by political parties over the nomination and exclusion of candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The commission had announced that some nominations were affected by its review, although the updated Adamawa document did not provide a specific explanation for Haske’s removal.

It remains unclear whether the exclusion resulted from a nomination dispute, a party-related issue, a legal development or another administrative decision.

The Finder’s examination of the original and revised lists established that Haske appeared in the earlier publication but was absent from the updated document.

The newspaper could not independently establish the specific grounds for the exclusion from the published lists alone.

The development raises questions about the status of the APM’s participation in the Adamawa governorship election and whether the party intends to challenge the decision through the appropriate legal or administrative channels.

Neither the publication of the revised list nor Haske’s absence establishes that he has been personally disqualified by a court.

FACT-CHECK VERDICT: TRUE

The claim that INEC has removed Abdulrahman Bashir Haske from its updated final list of Adamawa governorship candidates is supported by the commission’s published records. However, the precise reason for his exclusion remains unconfirmed.
