Madi, who oversaw the state pension board during a period of reforms and administrative restructuring, has been receiving sympathisers at the family residence in Karewa. Former colleagues, political associates and traditional leaders have visited to offer condolences.

In a statement released on behalf of the family, Madi said: “Rose was a pillar of strength to me and the children, and a compassionate presence to many widows and elderly people in the community. Her loss is profound and deeply felt.”

Neighbours and associates recalled her involvement in faith-based and women-led initiatives, noting that she regularly supported outreach programmes for elderly residents and low-income households.
