In response to the recent unintentional bombing of Tudun Biri village in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, a group known as the Concerned Northern Lawyers Forum has denounced the occurrence and threatened legal action against the Federal Government.   According to the group, the victims of the military drone attack want the federal government to pay them enough compensation, thus they’ve decided to sue. At a news conference in Kaduna on Saturday, the group’s spokesman, Nafi’u Abubakar, denied the Nigerian Army’s assertion that the strike was an accident and maintained that the operation was premeditated against the Tudun Biri community’s innocent residents.   To get to the bottom of the bombing tragedy, he demanded that the federal government launch an independent investigation into it right away. To ensure that no innocent people were killed in the course of the Nigerian Army’s operations, Abubakar also requested that the military review its training protocols and rules of engagement.   The most recent military tragedy happened on December 3, 2023, and over 85 people were confirmed killed. Scores more were injured. Rights groups have denounced the strike, and the Nigerian Army has already apologised, promising that it will not happen again.   The authorities in Nigeria have repeatedly failed to hold the military accountable for a lengthy string of such atrocities, which has led to the irresponsibility of the military.   The illegal murders of innocent people must not be ignored, stated Isa Sanusi, the director of Amnesty International Nigeria.   Both Governor Sani and President Bola Tinubu have demanded an investigation into the tragedy that has rocked the country.

Northern Nigerian senators and National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu have voted to have faith in the country’s security apparatus, even though a military drone accidentally hit a community in Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State.   Even though the latest military incident resulted in 85 confirmed deaths and dozens of injuries, Ribadu and the parliamentarians are praising the dedication of security agencies to reduce security concerns in the region.   During his fact finding mission to Tudun Biri hamlet, the NSA who offered the praise also promised that the bombing incident would not be ignored. He assured them that an all-encompassing probe would be launched shortly to prevent a repeat of the occurrence.   In addition to doing an evaluation for the federal government, our purpose in being here is to meet with the victims, their relatives, and the general public in person. It is unfortunate and tragic. It did, however, occur.   The most important things are: how we proceed, what we take away from this, and the precise actions that must be taken, Ribadu emphasised. He lauded the leadership and maturity shown by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani in responding to the tragedy, especially in coordinating the distribution of relief supplies and other necessities to the victims.   Senator Abdul Ningi and the other senators from the north paid a visit to Governor Sani to offer their condolences following the bombing. In spite of their shock and sadness, the senators were quick to praise the government for its efforts to combat terrorism and banditry in the North Central and North West geographical zones.   Additionally, they are pleading with Nigerians to set aside their feelings and let the government conduct a comprehensive investigation into the occurrence in order to prevent it from happening again.

At the 2023 Second Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament, lawmakers representing the Niger Republic have demanded that the sanctions be lifted against their nation.   To end the political deadlock and restore constitutional rule to the country, they demanded that the military junta step down. While presenting the nation’s 2023 report to the parliament in Abuja on Wednesday, Mr. Amadou Djibo, one of the lawmakers, laid out their stance.   “The sanction has left the citizenry and neighbouring countries that share borders with Niger in dire condition,” Djibo told the ECOWAS Parliament.   We are here per the directives of ECOWAS, which rejects the coup and maintains recognition of Mohamed Bazoum as Niger’s legitimately elected president.   In order to ensure that the people of Niger and the surrounding areas may continue to earn a living, we are pleading with this house to assist in easing the sanctions.   “The way forward is to address the military presence in the country so that democratic process can be restored,” he added, responding to the current political scenario in Niger, which is characterised by a military government.   In July, the military deposed Bazoum and his family and took them into custody.   Gen. Abdourahamane Tchiani spearheaded the coup that resulted in the detention of Interior Minister Hamadou Souley. Bazoum had intended to remove Tchiani from his role as commander of the presidential guard.   Nigerians Ali Ndume and Dr. Balarabe Salame, as well as Sierra Leonean Saa Lamina, all backed the call to remove sanctions.   Their main point was that if sanctions were lifted, people in Niger and the surrounding countries would finally be able to breathe.
